Dawn Patrol:
the right spot, that day.
Dawn patrol is what surfers call the first session of the day — in the water before the wind and the crowd. This is not a beginner lesson under another name. It is 90 minutes in the water with the instructor surfing alongside you — and the spot is not picked the night before: in the morning he reads the swell and takes the crew wherever it is working. Campeche, Joaquina, Matadeiro, Lomba, Riozinho or Vizu.
For surfers who already go out alone
You need to be able to paddle out through the break and get back on your own. No manoeuvres required, no big waves — just independence in the water. If you are not standing up yet, or have never made it past the whitewater, the beginner lesson here at Campeche is the one for you.
When you book we will ask you one thing: what is the biggest surf you have been out in?

Private lesson:
the instructor is yours alone.
In a group the instructor splits his attention between up to four people. One-on-one, he fixes your paddling on the wave you got wrong — not next lesson. That is the difference between being told what to do and being corrected at the exact moment.

You have only a few days on the island and want to stand up before you leave. Or you already take group lessons and got stuck on one specific thing. Or you just don't enjoy learning with an audience. Works for complete beginners and for surfers — the lesson is built around you, not around the group average.
